General Contracting

Understanding the importance of providing customers with a central point of contact for projects that involved roofing and other trades, Edward J. Laperouse received its Commercial Construction license in 1960 – some 61 years ago. The capacity to bring together a diverse group of subcontractors and follow through as a team working in unison, has been instrumental in our goal of being the first choice for our customers.  Both private and public building owners have benefited in our capacity to add services such as electrical, HVAC, concrete, waterproofing, flooring, interior ceiling systems, doors, windows, etc to our work.

These types of projects have ranged in size from $1M + to much smaller. Whether it is simply replacing an HVAC unit during a roof replacement process, or something more complex and involving multiple trades, we appreciate the opportunity to handle your multiple needs.

Do you have a project requiring both roofing work and other trades?  Feel free to contact us.

Project Spotlights

Schaumburg School – New Orleans, LA (Completed in 2019)

Schaumburg School was directly hit by a Tornado in 2017, and subsequently shut down for a couple of years because of the widespread damage to the school.  The project Architect, Scairono Martinez Architects, was hired by the Recovery School District to develop a comprehensive set of plans and specs and Edward J. Laperouse Metal Works Inc was subsequently hired to act as both general contractor and roofer for the project.

"We were extremely pleased with the renovation at Schaumburg Elementary and owe much of the success to the General Contractor, Edward J. Laperouse Metal Works. The project included everything from a new artificial play surface to interior repairs to an 84,000 sq.ft. standing seam metal roof over an existing metal roof, and every aspect of the project was well coordinated, expertly managed, and skillfully supervised.  I recommend Edward J. Laperouse as a General Contractor at every opportunity."

Rodrigue Family Tractor Shed – Thibodaux, LA (Completed in 2017)

This particular project was one that required effective communication between the owner and our company. The owner’s family had sold their farm property along the Mississippi River and he wanted to recreate a tractor shed that was previously located on the farm.  We worked with the owner in designing a new building that mimicked the overall design and contained materials that he had salvaged from the original building. We coordinated the design, foundation, secondary framework, ceiling, roofing, wall panels, and roll up doors while the owner was responsible for salvaging components of the original building and working with the highly skilled local carpenter who installed the primary structural components (original trusses and columns).   It was a fun and unique project.

Performance Energy – Pipe Profiler Building – Houma, LA (Completed 2020)

Performance Energy had recently ordered a new high tech pipe profiling machine and needed a new building to house it.  It was a great pleasure to work with them and be on the front end of the design stage.  The safety standards incorporated into Performance’s entire operation helped reiterate the need for safe operations within our everyday actions.   We greatly appreciated the opportunity and the trust they put in us to get the job done.

"From the beginning phases, all the way to the end of the job, Laperouse Metal Works completed the job safely, on time, and within budget.  I look forward to working with Brent and his team on future projects."
